We are a public good. And we want you to come in. We want you to feel welcome. We want you to feel like this is your place.
The MAAM visual identity communicates elements of surprise and unconventionality. It’s fluid and perpetually evolving—and breaks away from the traditional black-and-white motifs of peer contemporary art institutions.
The MAAM team boldly voiced their wish list for a logotype: “No serif, no sans serif.” The resulting mark features custom letterforms that appear to move forward in space. In print, the logo morphs into an outline to frame art, while in web applications the letters separate to frame content.
MAAM is free and open to everyone—students, families, art aficionados, and passersby. The welcoming and immersive web presence embraces this tenet of inclusivity and engages a broader audience in the discussion of contemporary art and culture.
